Blackbeard vs Malice: Which Valaverse Figure Fits Your Collection?

Quick answer

Choose Blackbeard if you want a wired soft goods cloak, an interchangeable head, and a lower catalog price of USD 14.00. Choose Malice if you prefer a slightly higher-priced figure at USD 20.00 with multiple accessories and interchangeable hands. Both are 1/12 scale adult-collector figures, so the real decision comes down to whether you value the cloak-and-head swap or the broader accessory mix.

Blackbeard and Malice sit in the same 1/12 scale lane, but they are not the same purchase. Blackbeard comes with a wired soft goods cloak and an interchangeable head and hands. Malice comes with multiple accessories and interchangeable hands. Both include a display stand and both are intended for adult collectors only.

The supplied catalog facts do not list a specific accessory count for either figure, so you cannot rank them by number of pieces. Instead, compare the named extras, the catalog prices, and how each figure would fit the way you pose and display your collection.

What each figure actually includes

Blackbeard ships with multiple accessories, an interchangeable head and hands, a display stand, and a wired soft goods cloak. The wired cloak is the standout inclusion because it can hold a shape rather than hanging flat. Malice ships with multiple accessories, interchangeable hands, and a display stand. The catalog facts do not list an interchangeable head for Malice, so if head swapping matters to you, Blackbeard is the clearer choice.

Both figures are 1/12 scale, so they will sit in the same general size range on a shelf. Blackbeard weighs .76 lbs and measures 11 by 7.5 by 2 inches. Malice weighs .56 lbs at the same dimensions. That weight difference is small, but it suggests Blackbeard carries a bit more material, which is consistent with the soft goods cloak.

• Check the supplied facts for the accessories you actually plan to use, not just the total count.

Price and value at a glance

Blackbeard is listed at USD 14.00 against a catalog comparison price of USD 27.99. Malice is listed at USD 20.00 against a catalog comparison price of USD 39.99. Both are discounted in the catalog, but Blackbeard has the lower entry price. If you are adding one figure to an existing display, Blackbeard leaves more room in the budget for accessories such as the Weapons Pack Kilo - Series 5 or the Backpack Set Bravo.

Neither figure is described as including a vehicle. If you want to build out a vehicle display, the VANGUARD H.A.U.L. Tan Accessory Set is a separate purchase. Keep that in mind if your budget has to cover both a figure and vehicle upgrades.

• Set a total budget for the figure plus any accessories before you choose.

Display and posing considerations

Blackbeard's wired soft goods cloak gives you more options for dynamic poses because the fabric can be shaped. That makes it a good fit for a shelf where you want movement and silhouette. Malice relies on interchangeable hands and multiple accessories, so its display strength is in how you equip it rather than in flowing fabric.

Both figures are intended for adult collectors only and may feature sharp points, small parts, and choking hazards. They are not recommended for children under 13. If your display is within reach of younger children, plan the shelf height accordingly.

• Use the included display stand for both figures to keep poses stable.

Trade-offs to weigh

• Accessory style: Blackbeard includes a wired soft goods cloak and an interchangeable head. Malice includes multiple accessories and interchangeable hands, but no head swap is listed. Pick Blackbeard if you want fabric and head changes; pick Malice if hands and gear are enough.
• Price: Blackbeard is USD 14.00 and Malice is USD 20.00. Both show a higher catalog comparison price. Blackbeard is the lower-cost entry point, leaving more budget for add-ons.
• Display role: Blackbeard's cloak supports dynamic, shaped poses. Malice's strength is in equipping and re-equipping with the supplied accessories. Match the figure to the kind of shelf presence you want.
